WHOOP alternatives
Checked
As of October 21, 2026, WHOOP is a membership that includes the device: One is $199 a year, Peak is $239, and Life is $359, from the October 18 check of the US membership page. That page did not load on October 21. Nothing else here sells a strap with no ongoing fee. Leave WHOOP for Bevel if you already have a phone or Apple Watch and you want the scores without a subscription: the help center says recovery, sleep, and strain stay free, and Pro is $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Leave it for Athlytic if you want a published cheap year, $29.99, and you will pay that subscription. Leave it for Oura if you want a ring. Oura still charges membership for the full insights.
| App | Price | Why switch |
|---|---|---|
| WHOOP | Paid. Memberships that include a WHOOP device: One at $199 a year, Peak at $239 a year, and Life at $359 a year, on the US membership page. The same page lists a certified pre-owned WHOOP 5.0 among the lineup options.Checked 2026-10-18 | The app these alternatives are measured against. |
| 01Bevel | Freemium. The help center, edited September 30, 2026, lists Free at $0, Pro at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and a $10.99 monthly plan on a 12-month commitment that it says is not sold in the US or Singapore. The US App Store in-app list shows the same $14.99 and $99.99. The App Store description still says subscriptions renew weekly or yearly, and that US list had no weekly price. Pro includes a weekly Bevel Intelligence allowance. Trial length is not fixed on the help page.Checked 2026-10-21 | The no-subscription scores. Free recovery, sleep, and strain, on the help center. Pro, the coach, is $99.99 a year. iPhone, and the free plan includes the Apple Watch app. |
| 02Athlytic | Paid. $29.99 a year or $4.99 a month on athlyticapp.com, with a 7-day free trial. Ring 5 is $399 for Silver and Black and $499 for the other finishes. Membership is $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, with the first month included for new members. Without a membership the app shows the three daily scores, battery, and Explore content.Checked 2026-10-18 | The ring. Hardware is separate, from $349, then membership. The buying guide says the three daily scores remain without membership. The head-to-head is WHOOP vs Oura. |

The App Store listing describes an AI sleep coach without a price.Checked 2026-10-17 | The smart alarm, on iOS and Android, with no ring to buy. The homepage offers a 30-day trial and did not print the price after it. |
Stay with WHOOP if
- You want the sensor and the coaching in one yearly price, with no separate hardware checkout.
- Strain, sleep, and recovery are the job, and you use an iPhone.
- You do not already trust a watch. An app on empty health data is not a WHOOP.
Leave WHOOP if
- You already wear an Apple Watch and you do not want a second membership device. Athlytic is $29.99 a year. Bevel's scores are free, and the coach is Pro.
- You want a ring. Oura sells the ring from $349, then membership. Without membership the app still shows the three daily scores, on Oura's buying guide.
- You will not wear hardware. RISE and Sleep Cycle are phone apps. Neither one published a dollar price on the pages already checked, and both are subscriptions after a trial.

Questions
- What is the best WHOOP alternative without a subscription?
- Bevel, for the scores, if you already have an iPhone and health data. The help center edited September 30, 2026 says recovery, sleep, and strain stay on the free plan, and that those free features will not move behind a paywall. The coach, Bevel Intelligence, is Pro at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. That is not a free strap. WHOOP includes the device in the membership. No listing here sells a WHOOP-like sensor with nothing to renew. Athlytic is the cheaper paid app, at $29.99 a year, and it is still a subscription.
- Is Athlytic a good alternative to WHOOP?
- Only if an Apple Watch is already on your wrist. Athlytic is $29.99 a year or $4.99 a month, checked October 21, 2026, against WHOOP Peak at $239 a year from the October 18 membership page. Athlytic does not sell a sensor. The recovery read is on data the watch already collected. It is the right comparison when the second device is what you want to avoid, and the wrong one if you do not own the watch.
- Can I use Oura without a membership?
- Oura's buying guide, checked October 18, 2026, says that without a membership the app shows the three daily scores, the battery, and Explore content. The ring is still required, from $349. Membership is $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with the first month included for new members, and it is what includes Oura Advisor. A ring plus a thin free layer is not the same product as a WHOOP membership. The comparison is on the WHOOP vs Oura page.
- Is there a free WHOOP alternative that includes a strap?
- Not in this directory. WHOOP's price is the membership, and the device comes with it. Bevel and Athlytic assume you already have a phone or an Apple Watch. Oura, Eight Sleep, and Lumen are separate hardware purchases in this directory, not a free strap. A phone app such as RISE or Sleep Cycle avoids the strap, and neither one printed a dollar price on the pages already checked. This is not a medical comparison. The sleep and recovery ranking is the longer list.
